Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo (1851–1942) was a British architect and designer who founded the Century Guild in 1882 — the first cooperative of Arts and Crafts designers in Britain. His wallpaper and textile designs, featuring dynamic swirling organic forms, anticipate Art Nouveau by a decade and make him one of the most historically significant figures in the transition from Victorian decorative art to early modernism. His title page for Wren's City Churches (1883) is one of the iconic images of the proto-Art Nouveau movement.
