A broad waterfall fans out over ochre and red-brown rock in dozens of white and blue streams, framed by dense blue-green foliage and trees. At the foot of the falls three small travellers stop to look up at the cascade, a round hat set on the ground beside them, and two more climb the path at upper right, one carrying a large bundle. A vertical cartouche at upper right names the series and the falls, and the signature and seals are at lower right.

Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) is the most widely known of all Japanese artists. Over a seventy-year career he worked under some thirty names, produced books, sketches and paintings by the thousand, and in his seventies designed the Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, including The Great Wave and Red Fuji, which reshaped landscape printmaking and later European art. He called himself the old man mad about drawing. His prints are held by the British Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Printed as a museum-grade giclée on Hahnemühle fine art paper using 12-ink archival pigment printing. Available handframed in FSC-certified wood with optional float glass, or unframed. Ships worldwide with free delivery to 30+ countries.
