Torii Kiyomasu (active early 18th century) was one of the founding masters of the Torii school — the artists who defined the visual language of Edo kabuki theatre and produced some of the earliest and most dramatically powerful ukiyo-e prints. Working in the period before multicolour printing, his compositions rely on bold line, dynamic pose, and raw graphic energy to achieve their theatrical impact.
