Shin-hanga Prints

Shin hanga prints: Japanese woodblock prints of the 20th century. Shin hanga ("new prints") was a movement of the 1910s to 1950s that revived the ukiyo-e method of separate designers, carvers and printers, with Western influence on light and perspective. The main artists are Hiroshi Yoshida and Kawase Hasui, with works by Ohara Koson, Shiro Kasamatsu, Ito Shinsui and Shoda Koho. Subjects include Mount Fuji, temples, gardens, bridges, moonlit lakes and snow scenes in Japan, Yoshida's views of El Capitan, the Grand Canyon, the Swiss Alps, India and Egypt, sailing boats, birds and flowers, and bijin-ga portraits of women.

The calm blues and soft evening light suit bedrooms, bathrooms and reading corners; the mountain views work above a bed, desk or sofa. All prints are museum-quality reproductions, available unframed or framed with low-glare acrylic glazing, with free shipping and import duties covered.
