Alexandra Exter (1882–1949) was a Ukrainian-Russian avant-garde artist and designer who moved fluidly between Cubism, Futurism, and Constructivism. Known especially for her theatrical costume and set designs — bold, spatial, dynamic — she taught in Kyiv and later Paris. Her Maquettes de Théâtre series captures the full force of her spatial imagination: colour as structure, form as motion.
