Uehara Konen (1878–1940) was a Japanese Shin Hanga printmaker associated with the movement's seascape and nature subjects. His ocean wave compositions bring together the traditional Japanese representation of water — the crashing, foam-streaked waves of the ukiyo-e tradition — with the atmospheric refinement and colour sensitivity of the Shin Hanga approach.
