A tall Gothic-style tower rises against a sky of radiating swirled lines, carved in black, olive green and cream. Ornate tracery windows and a rose window mark the upper stories, and small figures stand on ledges partway up the tower. The lower half of the tower and its base fall into solid black silhouette against a stylized cloud-like pattern.

Huib Luns (1881–1942) was a Dutch painter, sculptor and writer who also designed posters, book covers and medals. Born in Paris, he studied at the Rijksnormaalschool in Amsterdam, began his career in Brussels, and went on to teach in Rotterdam, direct art schools in 's-Hertogenbosch and Amsterdam, and from 1931 hold a professorship at the Technische Hogeschool Delft. He wrote widely on art, including books on Rubens, Spanish painters and Jan Sluijters. His work is held by the Rijksmuseum, the Amsterdam Museum and the Noordbrabants Museum.
